Club Constitution

Introduction:

The purpose of this document, known as the "club constitution", will outline the structure, workings and rules of the bike club known as "Amicitia Ad Vitum"

For the rest of this document the word "club" will reference "Amicitia Ad Vitum" and the word "members" or "member" will refer to full colour member or members and will also include apprentice or apprentices.

1. Joining Criteria:

1.1 All applicants need to be 18yr or older.

1.2 No Quads, or Scooters or bikes smaller than 400cc can be used to qualify to ride with the club.

1.3 All members will have to own a valid bike license and a roadworthy bike to qualify to join. If a member is married then his or her wife / husband may qualify as a pillion to join.

1.4 To qualify for application, the prospective member will have to ride with Amicitia for a minimum of 3 months before he or she can request to join the club, this is to ensure that the existing members can get to know the prospect and cast his or her vote on experience and not a guess.

1.5 A prospective applicant will only be handed appy colours once a majority vote from all club members have been achieved.

1.6 All apprenticeships will last for a minimum of 4 months, after that the committee shall at their discression grant the member with full colours.

1.7 All new members will be required to pay for their colours before they will be handed to them.

1.8 Joining fee is R 500.00, and includes a leather patch. Rally patches are also available for a fee of R 150.00. Should the member leave the club, the leather patch is refundable once returned for R 250.00, and the rally returnable yet without renumeration.

1.9 Any mutual friend of the founding members, at the founding time of the club , who has been involved in the biking community will be elegatible for full colours, thus points 1.4, and 1.6 above will not comply. However the applicant will still need to be voted in with a majority vote cast by the whole club.

1.10 An appy's vote on any club matter does not count.
1.11 Amicitia works on a no license no patch rule. Appy colours may be presented with a learners, yet the member shall remain an appy whilst riding with a learners.

2. Members:

2.1 The club, "Amicitia Ad Vitum" is just that. The club name should never fall into disdain or repute. Any politics that may prevail is to be discussed and resolved amicably and unanimously at a meeting by the entire club.

2.2 The maximum sanction will be the immediate loss of colours and membership of the club.

2.3 Although members pay for their colours, the colours will be handed back to the club in case of member resignation or disqualification.

Monies to the value of R 250.00 will be refunded to that person.

2.4 Members will be expected to attend club runs and functions as regular as possible.

2.5 There are no monthly subscription fees, and therefore any combined jols/ rallys will be paid as necessary and split by the attendees.

2.6 This constitution may be amended at any time, in writing, with the agreement of the entire club at a meeting as called.

2.7 The law of the land prevails with the addition of two unspoken biking laws, namely:

- Protect and look after any other member's belongings, including his or her motorcycle.

- Hands off his or her partner.

2.8 The concept of drinking alcohol and riding will, under no circumstances, be accepted.

2.9 Any and all guests of members remain their responsibility at all times.

3. Committee

3.1 There will be a committee consisting of:
- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Road Captain

3.2 The committee has no powers over any other members, and each and every matter shall be treated as such, with the exception of a unanimous committee vote. Should the vote not be unanimous then the president may intervene.

3.3 The founding members can, if deemed necessary, make changes or amend any rules or decisions, if they reach a mutual agreement on the subject.

3.4 The entire committee shall be up for renewal each and every year at the first meeting of that year. However there is nothing stopping the current / existing committee members to run for their position for consecutive terms.

3.5 A member needs to be in possession of full colours for at least a year before he or she can run for any committee position.

4. Rules of riding

4.1 The club will ride in formation to and from any event witch the club attends as an official club function (excluding breakfast runs).

4.2 No un-safe riding will be allowed where there is a risk to fellow bikers.

4.3 If at any stage a member invites another person to join the club on a ride then it is that member's responsibility that the guest rides in a responsible and safe manner.
