So after a couple of years where we decided not to do the Impala rally, we finally decided to give Bike SA and Simon Fourie's rally another go!
I managed to get there around 20:00 on Friday evening, after the heavens opened in Johannesburg witch unfortunately delayed my departure for a while. Once I arrived there, Mike, Estelle, Dirk and Sandy already made their way to the rally.
The evening was accompanied my numerous rain showers, however this did not seem to spoil the fun, and actually in a funny way made it more enjoyable as everybody was kinda forced to stay at the main tent and mingle. With the exception of Mike, who got stranded in his tent after he made a run for it to go and top up his refreshment, however according to him he was not scared, cause he had copious amount of alcohol there to keep him company...
The evening stretch way into the early hours of the morning, with the usual rally surprises popping up, like Estelle's surprise "finger up the bum" discovery that she unfortunately walked into in the bathrooms... different strokes for different folks I suppose, however this naturally evolved in numerous hilarious sayings throughout the weekend... and I'm sure there is some more to come! Some of us managed to lose our partners, or just managed to get lost all by ourselves; witch in some way should serve as evidence to the party that was had on Friday evening.
Came Saturday, Most of us actually managed to sleep in for a bit, which is a bit out of the norm on a rally but some rest was needed after Friday. We decided to do a little brunch braai thanks to the wood, meat and rolls that Dirk and Sandy brought along and Mike and Stella was kind enough to pop thru to the shops to fetch some more rolls, bacon, mushrooms etc to line the tummies! Thanks guys!
The rest of Saturday mostly consisted of migrating between the camping areas and the road where the usual antics was happening with guys doing burnouts, wheelies, endos and tossing their bikes down the road! Always entertaining!
Later the evening everybody made their way up to the main tent for the lucky draw.
Up until now my opinion on the 2010 Impala rally was quite positive, until Simon Fourie managed to put a damper on it with his comments he made in his speech.
Saturday morning arrived and everybody packed up and headed home...
So in short, to all the friends that was there... Thanks for an awesome party with you, yet again!
Pics will follow sometime this week!
