We desperately require clothes, non perishable food, toys, tools, whatever… It all goes to a very good cause. Let’s all open our hearts and give whatever we can to uplift those needy people in our community. Your support will be deeply appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday 30 May! We have also arranged that the local newspapers send reporters to cover the event! The details of the run are as follows: • Departure point: Rangeview Shopping Centre, c/o Robert Broom and Norden Road, Rangeview, Krugersdorp • Departure time: 09:30 am on Sunday 30-05-2010 • Arrival Point: Salvation Army Community Centre c/o Bodenstein & Seventh Street, Krugersdorp North The program is quite simple - Have a beer, coffee whatever. depart for Salvation Army Community Centre. Arrival and handover of items to the Salvation Army, accompanied by a short speech. Enjoy a boerie roll or burger, curry and rice or the like. All club members are invited.   Brutus (26 May 2010)   Whilst on my Swaziland trip I stopped off at Kaapsehoop (near Nelspruit) at a lovely place called Silver Mist Country Inn (www.silvermistgh.co.za) Well they have just emailed me to say that they have snow! Does anyone want to go play in the snow this weekend (26 +27 June)? They charge R 325 pppn. I was thinking of driving there early on Sat and coming back on Sun. They have a wine cellar and beeeg fir pit to keep warm. They are also having a fire display and a drum circle so it should be interesting. Swaziland is 350 kms from here.   Brutus (5 July 2010)   Any takers?   Brutus (28 July 2010)   I was at the Vulture Rehabilitation Centre (in Harties) on Saterday and they are in dire need of some simple help. They have got an EWT/ Rehab day on the 4th September at their place. Since they opened they have not had the time or money to get their place ship shape for their sponsors/ public. They have recently received sponsorship of paint, waterproofing etc and would really like to present a top class looking place to all on the 4th September. They approached me and asked if anyone would like to help, soooooooo I would like to suggest that anyone that can help paint please come through on this Sunday 29th August with your paint brush/ roller and paint tray and we can get this thing done. They will have the prep work done this week so we just need to go slap some paint on their walls. They also have the paint... they just need to get it into the walls. The centre rehabilitates and cares for just about any bird and as thus they already have a collection of vultures, eagles and owls that they are looking after. More cages are being built at the moment. They also have a tame Bateleur eagle whom actually occasionally enjoys being touched and stroked. I thought that mebbe we pitch in on Sunday then go and braai/ drink/ etc, either at the rehab centre or at my place which is also at Hartbeespoort Dam. It wasn't long before the place got to look like new, and then free boerie rolls were up for grabs.... that and a couple of beers made for a nice day indeed.
